Potential transformers, are also known as voltage transformers, are instrument transformers. They have a large number of secondary turns and a fewer number of primary turns. Potential transformers are used to increase the range of voltmeters in electrical substations and generating stations.
The potential transformer converts voltages from high to low. It will take the thousands of volts behind power transmission systems and step the voltage down to something that meters can handle. These transformers work for single and three phase systems, and are attached at a point where it is convenient to measure the voltage.
JDJJ2-12 Potential Transformer
This potential transformer is single phase, oil-immersed and indoor using. It features big capability and high precision. It has three windings. The 0.2 class of winding is used for metering, the 0.5 class of winding is used for control, and the third one is used for zero sequence protection.

It is used for electricity metering, voltage control and relay protection in the electric system up to rated frequency 50/60HZ and rated voltage 3, 6, 12kV. It accords with IEC186 and GB1207-1997. It has DZ-3(W) and JDZJ-12(W) three types.
